Choosing a wedding style & location are one of the first steps to planning a wedding. The wedding style & location will define the foundation for your wedding.
What are some things to consider when choosing your venue?
1) Guest list
Do you want an intimate wedding? With just close family and a few friends? Or are dreaming of a fairytale wedding where you are the spectacular star of the grandiose show? Did you want children involved? Where you thinking of having your grandparents attend? If so is it reasonable, to have a destination wedding in Costa Rica, if they are unable to fly there to share that moment with you?
2) Religion/Wedding Customs
A religious ceremony tends to be held in a place of worship such as a church, mosque, or temple. Distinguishing if you will have cultural wedding customs will determine your wedding venue.
3) How much work are you willing to put into this wedding?
Reception Halls & Hotels are the easier cookie-cutter weddings that will allow you to sit back and relax and have the staff you hire do the work, such as set up and post party clean up. However, if you wanna choose a unique venue, such as a art gallery, you have to consider hiring a separate caterer and setting up your self. Thinking of a barn setting? Who will clear out the hay, set up the lighting, set up the tables, etc?

Traditional Weddings

Normally the traditional ceremony is held in a religious place filled with traditional wedding customs. Followed by a reception in a banquet hall. These types of weddings are excellent for couples that value tradition and don’t want to for worry about all the extra planning. Reception halls can accommodate for 100-400 people and include silverware, dinnerware, food, alcohol, and linens and ultimately saving you money in the end.
Destination Wedding

These weddings are becoming more popular as your guests can enjoy the union of to people and enjoy a vacation at the same time. Various locations can be chosen, if you are thinking beach wedding, the Caribbean has many resorts that tailor to you with all inclusive wedding packages for brides & grooms that include airfare, meals, accommodations. Thinking tropical wedding, Hawaii & Costa Rica have some amazing exotic wedding locations. Paris or Italy can be a romantic get-a-way to share the with your guests!
Quirky Wedding

A ceremony somewhere off the beaten path, such as a museum, a barn, an art gallery, a botanical garden, a civic center, or a sports venue. Are you looking for a unique venue for your event? Then a quirky wedding is your style. Just be aware of the cost, unlike a banquet hall, you may have to go outside the box and hire a caterer, flatware, cutlery, napkins, rental tables, etc. The great part of having an empty canvas is that there are no limitations! You could create your dream wedding. You can try to minimize costs by bargaining, at some museums and galleries, you can purchase a membership and receive a discount.
Backyard Wedding

This wedding style is for couples that want an intimate wedding. This creates a more casual appeal for your guests and a sense of ‘home’. Although, you may be saving your money with reception hall fees, be aware of the hidden costs you have to consider. You will still need to rent cutlery, tables, and linen. Don’t forget that you may need a generators for the band, a rented floor to cover the lawn, extra restrooms (you’ll need one portable toilet for every 50 guests), a fire extinguisher, and a tent in case of rain. Plus, you’ll have to spray the grounds for bugs, mow the lawn, deal with any home improvements, and figure out parking.
